The latest X feature, which rolled out on iOS and the Web yesterday, too is a welcome change.

After introducing the option for users to buy their way to the top of reply sections through an X Premium subscription, the social media platform has now added a new menu that lets users sort replies using more traditional methods.

If you’ve been annoyed by blue checkmark users cluttering replies with irrelevant content just to get more views and engagement, this update is good news!

The new menu allows you to sort replies by most relevant, most recent, and most liked. While “most relevant” may still favour those who pay for X/Twitter, “most recent” and “most liked” are pretty straightforward.

Unfortunately, the reply sorting setting doesn’t save, so you’ll need to reselect it each time you view a new tweet.

Despite this, it’s a positive step toward making the replies section more user-friendly.

To recap, after Elon Musk took over Twitter in 2022, he introduced Twitter Blue (now called X Premium) for $8/month, which gave users a blue checkmark and boosted their replies to the top.

In 2023, X Premium+ was launched for $16/month, offering an even bigger boost, leading to a pay-to-win system where many users promoted themselves in popular tweet replies.
