Xiaomi’s next foldable smartphone appears to have been delayed, according to recent leaks. The company skipped launching a foldable in 2025 after introducing the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 in 2024. Here’s what we know about Xiaomi’s next-generation foldable.
As per tipster Kartikey Singh @That_Kartikey on X, Xiaomi was initially planning to launch its upcoming foldable alongside the Xiaomi 17 Max next month. However, the launch timeline has reportedly been pushed to early July.
Certain media reports have also highlighted how there is also uncertainty around the device’s branding. The upcoming foldable may not be called the Mix Fold 5 and instead, it could debut as the Xiaomi 17 Fold.
This speculation is based on a previous IMEI database listing that revealed a Xiaomi foldable with the model number 26023PN08C and codename “pecan.” Xiaomi’s Mix Fold series usually uses “PX” identifiers in their model numbers such as the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 had 24072PX77C.
However, the new listing carries a “PN” identifier that is typically associated with Xiaomi’s mainline numbered series like the Xiaomi 17 lineup. This suggests the company could be reworking its naming strategy for foldable devices.
The nformation about the upcoming Xiaomi foldable remains limited. In terms of hardware, the Xiaomi 17 Fold is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, placing it among flagship-grade foldable smartphones.
Camera details based on earlier reports suggest that the device could feature a triple rear camera setup. This may include a 200-megapixel primary sensor with Samsung S5KHP5, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera OV50M and another 50-megapixel auxiliary sensor OV50M. For selfies and video calls, the foldable is tipped to include a 16-megapixel front-facing camera OV16F.
Now with the hint of expected launch window for early July, more leaks and official teasers are likely to surface in the coming weeks.
