Xiaomi has announced the launch timeline of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 successor, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 smartphone. As per the details shared by Xiaomi President Lu Weibing, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will be released in August.
The company president confirmed these details while responding to the user’s question.
Additionally, Xiaomi President Lui Weibing also shared details that the company has launched a new smart factory, and the first phone that will be manufactured in the new unit will be the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3.
We’ve been expecting the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 for a while now, and we’ve heard a few rumors about the device already.
Now, Xiaomi has officially confirmed the existence of the foldable phone and given us a launch window.
Redmi general manager Lu Weibing confirmed on Weibo that the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 was coming, adding that its next generation of foldables was thinner and stronger. The executive attributed these improvements to a new manufacturing system.
Lu also confirmed to a follower that the Mix Fold 3 would debut in August. We’re guessing this is the Chinese release rather than a global release. But if the firm’s previous Mix Fold phones are anything to go by, then we shouldn’t expect a global launch at all.
Either way, one recent Xiaomi leak points to a foldable phone with a Flex Mode. This would be a major upgrade for the Mix Fold series, which has lacked a free-stop hinge and Flex Mode until now.
A prominent Weibo tipster has also suggested that an upcoming Xiaomi foldable phone will pack a 4,800mAh battery, 120W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.
The Mix Fold 3 will enter an increasingly competitive foldable phone segment in this quarter, as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 will be revealed this month.
Other foldable phones set to launch in this quarter include the HONOR Magic V2 and OnePlus foldable.
Toss in other foldable phones like the Google Pixel Fold, OPPO Find N2, vivo X Fold 2, and HUAWEI Mate X3, and there’s no shortage of competitors.

Xiaomi President Lu Weibing today announced that the Mix Fold 3 is coming in August. He responded with the news to a question on Weibo, in the comments of a post he made about Xiaomi’s latest factory upgrade.
The new Smart Factory was officially launched and the first model it will mass produce will be exactly the Mix Fold 3.
Apparently there have been a lot of upgrades in terms of manufacturing systems to ensure that the Mix Fold 3 can be thinner and stronger at the same time.
It will also have Leica-branded cameras, unsurprisingly. The Mix Fold 2 launched in August of last year, so it seems like that month is now more or less a tradition for new Xiaomi foldables arriving.
That model is 11.2mm thick in its folded state. That was already mind-blowing (for Samsung, especially), but it seems that Xiaomi has somehow managed to make the Mix Fold 3 even thinner than that.
The bad news, according to a very recent rumor, is that the Mix Fold 3 will apparently stay confined to China just like its predecessor, not getting an official international launch.
That would be a pity, but we’re used to Chinese companies being afraid to take their foldables outside of their home market – it’s been a trend over the past couple of years. Only Samsung benefits from this really, and consumers lose, but it is what it is.
The Mix Fold 3 has been rumored to come with an under-display selfie camera on the main folding screen, a 5x periscope zoom lens on the back, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset at the helm, and support for 50W wireless charging.

Furthermore, he also mentioned that there are new upgrades in terms of manufacturing systems in order to ensure that the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 can be thinner and stronger.

As far as the specifications of the device go, it is tipped to come with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.
The device is expected to offer 67W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging support.
In terms of the optics department, the handset is expected to feature a 50MP Sony IMX858 sensor, a telephoto camera, and a periscope camera.
The device is also expected to feature an under-display fingerprint sensor on the main folding screen.
The other key specifications of the handset such as its display size, battery capacity, RAM and storage configuration remain unknown currently.
To recall, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 predecessor, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 debuted in August last year.
The device features a 6.56-AMOLED inch display on the outer side. It has a 1080 x 2520 pixels resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, a 21:9 ratio, and a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection.
The inner display on the handset is of 8.02-inches. It has a 1914 x 2160 pixels resolution, 360 PPI pixel density, and 1300 nits brightness.
Under the hood, the device is powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC which is coupled with Adreno 730 GPU.
The smartphone comes with up to 12GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage.
For the optics purpose, the device has a triple-camera setup which consists of a 50MP primary camera, 8MP telephoto lens, and a 13MP ultra-wide sensor.
The device features a 20MP camera on the front side for selfies and video-calling purposes.
A 4,500mAh battery is equipped with the handset which supports 67W fast charging. The other key features which the Xiaomi Mix 2 Fold offer includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and stereo speaker support.

As per the tipster, the phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. It sports a quad-camera system. Two of these cameras feature zoom lenses. One of them has a 3.2x zoom lens for portraits, while the other has a 5x periscope lens for long-range zoom.
