Manufacturers often rebrand and repurpose smartphones to sell them in different markets, and it appears that Xiaomi could be following such a course with its upcoming Poco F6 Pro.
Recent evidence, in the form of a public update for the unreleased phone, shows that the Poco F6 Pro having a codename Vermeer.
As it so happens the Redmi K70, a smartphone announced in China last November, also had the same codename.
The “Vermeer” codename in multiple certification listings further supports this, as Xiaomi does not reuse codenames on different models.
There is every likelihood that the F6 Pro is announced in the markets around the world bearing the K70’s specs.
Luckily we have a good idea about the K70’s specs since it has already been in China for a while now.
Obviously, the Poco F6 Pro’s pricing and availability remain unknown, but its potential positioning as a rebranded Redmi K70 allows us to guestimate the price at about Rs 30,000 or so.
We’ll see when the device comes.
POCO F6 Pro: Potential Specs
The recently launched Poco X6 Pro borrowed a lot from the Redmi K70E but with some compromises in battery capacity and charging speed.
This could not be the case for the Poco F6 Pro, which can be an identical twin of the Redmi K70.
If the rumors are correct, then the Poco F6 Pro will have pretty impressive specs.
It is said to feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which guarantees top performance.
The device will likely have a 6.67-inch OLED display with a 2K resolution, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and HDR/Dolby Vision standards support.
In the camera department, the Poco F6 Pro is rumoured to inherit the Redmi K70’s triple rear camera setup, consisting of a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro module.
A 16MP front-facing camera is also expected.
One of the standout features could be its massive 5,000mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging, ensuring users can quickly top up their device and stay connected on the go.
The Poco F6 Pro is likely to run on the latest Android 14 operating system, potentially with Xiaomi’s HyperOS skin on top.
Connectivity options are expected to include 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, a USB-C port, and NFC.
