Meta is working on a new WhatsApp feature that will allow users to link their social media accounts directly to their profile. While this feature is already available for business accounts, it is now being developed for regular users as well.

The feature was spotted by trusted WhatsApp Beta source WABetaInfo in a WhatsApp beta update for iPhone. While it’s not active yet, the WABetaInfo report includes a screenshot showing how it will exactly work. Users will be able to add links to their social media profiles, making it easier for others to find and connect with them.

According to WABetaInfo, “It seems that WhatsApp is committed to allowing users to further personalize their profile page, with the focus of enhancing user engagement and making profiles even more dynamic and informative. […] A new section will be available directly in the profile settings in the future, where users can choose whether to add links to their social media profiles.”

As of now, Instagram is the only option available for linking but more platforms like Threads and Facebook could be added before the feature rolls out to the public.

Unlike the WhatsApp Business version, which requires signing in for verification before linking an Instagram account, this new feature doesn’t require verification, at least for now. However, Meta may introduce a verification step before launch to prevent impersonation and misuse.

The feature is completely optional, so users can choose whether or not to share their social media links on WhatsApp.
