Apple iOS 15.1 Update Released: Check what’s new and how to download latest version iOS

Here’s the update we have been waiting for! Apple has finally released the latest upgraded version of their operating system for iPhones – the iOS 15.1. The update was announced at the ‘Unleashed Event’ held recently on October 18, 2021 where the tech giant unveiled the new Apple MacBook Pro and AirPods. Here’s everything new with Apple iOS 15.1 update that should make you update your iPhone now.

iOS 15.1 Release Date

Alongside the macOS Monterey and the iPadOS 15.1 updates, Apple released its iOS 15.1 update today i.e October 27, 2021. Apple iOS 15.1 is the first major update of the company since iOS 15 update, which was released on September 20, 2021. While iOS 15 was announced in June on WWDC Event 2021, it went through significant changes until it was finally unveiled. The new update brings in a number of features including support for ProRes recording and SharePlay, along with other tweaks and stability fixes.

iOS 15.1 update – How to download?

Here are the steps to download and install iOS 15.1 updates on your iPhone:

Step 1: Go to “Settings” panel

Step 2: Tap on General tab

Step 3: Tap on Software Update

Step 4: Tap on Check for Updates for a software update

Step 5: When the update is available, tap on download and install.

Note: iOS 15.1 update has a file size of about 1.4GB.

iOS 15.1 Update – New Features

With iOS 15.1 update, Apple is bringing the new SharePlay feature, which will allow users to share experiences with friends and family in FaceTime. Apart from this, it allows to stream music and albums available on Apple Music while speaking with contacts on FaceTime.

While this new update will be available on all devices that support iOS 15.1, there is other feature that will be for the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. For these latest iPhones, this update brings the ability to capture ProRes videos, which provides higher colour fidelity along with less compression over traditional video codecs.

As part of iOS 15.1 update, lossless audio arrives for the HomePod. It’s HomePodOS but it comes when your HomePod updates after you have got the iOS update.

iOS 15.1 also brings the verifiable Covid-19 vaccination cards in Apple Wallet app, but this feature is likely not going to be available for India because the government never partnered with Google or Apple to share APIs of its Aarogya Setu or Cowin app, which would have allowed iOS and Android users information related to Covid more conveniently on their devices and without needing separate apps.

For problems with weather, photos, and wallet apps, iOS 15.1 update brings in fixes. To help provide better-estimated battery capacity over time, iPhone 12 users get battery algorithm updates. The Wi-Fi networks not appearing in the settings bug has also been fixed.
