When Apple rolled out the iPhone 12 Mini, it catered to a niche longing for a compact yet powerful phone. Apple’s efforts were lauded as they managed to cram high-end specs into a smaller form factor, echoing the adage: good things come in small packages.
However, the charm seemed to wane with the iPhone 13 Mini. A Counterpoint research report laid bare the Mini’s struggle for a market foothold.
With a mere 5 percent sales share amidst its more popular siblings — the iPhone 13 (51percent), 13 Pro Max (23 percent), and 13 Pro (21 percent) — the writing was on the wall. This tepid response potentially led to Apple’s omission of a Mini variant for the iPhone 14 series.
Adding fuel to the fire, Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman has highlighted the diminishing stock levels of the iPhone 13 Mini.
Delays in shipping timeframes from the U.S. Apple online store range from 2-3 weeks, and in some cases, extend to 6-8 weeks. Such lagging availability is a hint at the series nearing its end.
With the “Wanderlust” event scheduled for today and no whispers of a Mini in the iPhone 15 series, speculations are rife about Apple possibly phasing out this compact marvel.
The iPhone 15 series is set to comprise the 6.1-inch iPhone 15, 6.7-inch 15 Plus, 6.1-inch 15 Pro, and 6.7-inch 15 Pro Max.
As the tech world holds its breath for the latest offerings, it’s evident that the focus might have shifted from compact designs.
For aficionados of the Mini, this might be the moment to secure one, while for others, it’s a wait to see what Apple brings to the table next.
Apple introduced the iPhone Mini series with the launch of the iPhone 12 Mini, targeting users who favoured compactness without compromising on performance.
According to a Counterpoint research report, the iPhone 13 Mini accounted for only 5% of the sales among the iPhone 13 lineup, with its counterparts overshadowing its market share.
Mark Gurman from Bloomberg pointed out dwindling stock levels and longer shipping estimates for the iPhone 13 Mini. Coupled with no mention of a Mini in the upcoming iPhone 15 series, this has fueled speculation.
The anticipated iPhone 15 series will likely comprise the 6.1-inch iPhone 15, 6.7-inch 15 Plus, 6.1-inch 15 Pro, and 6.7-inch 15 Pro Max.
