Samsung's M14 OLED panels will debut in Google Pixel 9 series. Apple's iPhone 16 Pro models will also feature M14 OLED displays. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra uses older M13 OLED technology. Pixel 9 series expected to launch on August 13 with M14 displays. Samsung, renowned for producing some of the best Android phones, is also a leader in OLED panel manufacturing. However, the company's smartphone division doesn't always get first access to its most advanced display technology. In an interesting turn of events, Samsung's latest and most sophisticated OLED panels are reportedly destined for competitors' flagship devices: the upcoming Google Pixel 9 series and Apple's iPhone 16 Pro models. Pixel 9 to Use M14 OLED Technology Pixel 9 series to use M14 OLED panels Samsung's M14 OLED technology is an advanced display that is part of Samsung's M series screens, where a higher model number indicates superior quality. As such, the M14 represents the pinnacle of Samsung's current OLED capabilities. Google's entire Pixel 9 lineup, including the standard Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL, is set to be the first to feature the M14 OLED panels. The Pixel 9 series and iPhone 16 Pro series will have better displays than the Galaxy S24 Ultra Even more intriguing is the rumor that the second-generation Pixel Fold will also incorporate this cutting-edge display technology. The Pixel 9 series is expected to be unveiled on August 13, marking the debut of M14 OLED in the smartphone market. Apple's Adoption Apple will also be using Samsung's best OLED panel. Apple plans to use the M14 OLED technology selectively in its upcoming lineup. The premium iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models will feature these advanced displays, while the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will continue using the M12 tech found in the current generation. Samsung's Position Samsung will use the M14 OLED panels on the Galaxy S25 series next year. So where does Samsung stand in all of this? Interestingly, the South Korean giant’s current flagship, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, uses an M13 panel. This places it a step behind the upcoming Pixel and iPhone models in terms of display technology.
