Vivo is gearing up to launch its latest Y-series smartphone named the Vivo Y500 5G in China on September 1, 2025. Ahead of the official debut, the company has been teasing key specifications and fresh updates shedding light on its durability features. It also revealed advanced battery technology and waterproofing specs. Here’s what we know about the phone based on official teasers.
Vivo’s official account on Chinese app Weibo has been posting teasers highlighting some of the key highlights of the upcoming smartphones.

The Y500 5G is confirmed to feature a massive 8200mAh Blue Ocean battery with semi-solid-state technology. According to the teasers, the battery can withstand extreme conditions, offering stability even at -20°C low temperatures and maintaining performance up to 40°C high temperatures.
Vivo has also teased IP69+ waterproof protection, claiming the Y500 5G to be the “most waterproof phone” in the company’s history. This means the device is resistant to spills, splashes, rinses, and even submersion in water.
Earlier teasers also highlighted 90W fast charging support and 3D panoramic audio, while internal testing on Xiaobai’s battery benchmarks reportedly placed the Y500 5G at the top of the charts.
Additional details about the smartphone have surfaced through Geekbench listings and the China Telecom database. The Vivo Y500 5G is expected to run on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset paired with the ARM Mali-G615 GPU, Android 15, 12GB RAM, and up to 512GB of internal storage. It will feature a 6.77-inch display with 2392×1080 resolution, a 50MP + 2MP dual rear camera setup, and an 8MP front camera.
Colour options confirmed for the Chinese market include Glacier Blue, Basalt Black, and Dragon Crystal Purple. While the phone launches on September 1, sales are expected to begin from September 5, 2025.
