Recently, reports suggesting the return of Xiaomi’s Mix lineup with the Xiaomi Mix 5 have been making rounds. However, the latest comes from a reliable tipster who has dismissed all the speculations. Here’s all you need to know about this development.
To give some context, very recent reports by XimiTime pointed to a new Mix device based on internal database references mentioning a codename “hongkong” along with the model number Q5.
These details sparked expectations of a possible 2026 launch and hinted at Xiaomi reviving its Mix branding.
However, well-known Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station has now clarified that there is currently no Mix 5 in development. According to the tipster, the Q5 model number is not linked to any Mix-series smartphone but is instead tied to Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship lineup.
This now has many tech enthusiasts believe could most likely the Xiaomi 18 series. Notably, these updates are all based on online chatter and should be considered with a pinch of salt.
The initial report was shared by Ximitime and highlighted a device codenamed “Hongkong” with the model number “Q5” found within HyperOS code. Based on this, it was claimed that the “Q” prefix indicated a 2026 release timeline, while the “5” suffix aligned with Xiaomi’s MIX series naming pattern.
The report further suggested that this device could launch in multiple regions including Europe, India, Turkey, Indonesia, Taiwan, Russia, and China.
Previous leaks surrounding the rumoured Mix 5 also pointed towards advanced features such as an under-display camera similar to what was seen on the Xiaomi Mix 4. Other than that, it was suggested to introduce experimental hardware innovations like a magnetic lens system for the rear camera.
Xiaomi had showcased a similar concept back in 2025 and reports claimed it might be close to mass production.
