Lower Starting Price

Despite the upgrades, Apple has reduced the starting price for the MacBook Air M4 –

  • 13-inch variant – ₹99,900
  • 15-inch variant – ₹1,24,900

For comparison, last year’s MacBook Air M3 started at ₹1,14,900 for the 13-inch model and ₹1,34,900 for the 15-inch version.

A New Colour Option

Apple has introduced a Sky Blue colour for the MacBook Air M4, complete with matching MagSafe charging cables.

The existing Midnight, Starlight and Silver colour options remain available.

Upgraded Chipset

The MacBook Air M4 is powered by the new M4 processor, featuring a 10-core CPU, an 8- or 10-core GPU and support for up to 32GB of unified memory.

Apple claims major performance improvements in tasks like spreadsheet management, video editing, photo editing, and web browsing. However, most of these comparisons are against older Intel-based MacBooks or the M1 chip, so the difference compared to the M3 remains unclear.

Apple Intelligence Features

Thanks to the M4’s powerful chipset, the new MacBook Air fully supports Apple Intelligence from the start. This includes the following features –

  • Genmoji
  • Writing tools
  • Image Playground
  • ChatGPT integration in Siri
  • And other macOS Sequoia AI features

Improved Connectivity

The MacBook Air M4 comes with upgraded Thunderbolt 4 ports replacing Thunderbolt 3 for better security and faster connectivity.

Additionally, while last year’s model already supported dual external displays, the M4 version allows users to connect two 6K external displays while still using the built-in Liquid Retina Display.
