Adobe has officially launched its Premiere app for iPhone. It gives mobile creators access to professional-grade video editing tools without needing a desktop setup. The app is free to download on iOS, though advanced AI-powered features require additional generative credits. An Android version is currently in development. Here’s everything about the new app.
Designed specifically for mobile users, Premiere for iPhone offers a multi-track timeline that allows creators to layer video, audio, text, and music seamlessly. It supports 4K HDR editing, frame-accurate trimming, and advanced adjustments such as colour grading and shadow control. The app also includes auto-generated captions, a valuable feature for social media content creators.
The interface is optimised for smartphones with a portrait-first design. The viewer is placed at the top of the screen, while the timeline sits at the bottom, both of which can be resized based on user preference. While different from the desktop layout, the mobile interface is intuitive and well-suited to smaller screens.
Pitching it as a powerful mobile version of the full app, Adobe says, “The trusted video editor of YouTubers, filmmakers, music video editors and beyond, is now reimagined for mobile, delivering pro-level creative control, without the pro-level complexity. The new mobile app brings precision editing on a lightning-fast multi-track timeline, studio-quality audio with crystal clear voiceovers, perfectly timed AI sound effects, the ability to generate one-of-a-kind content with Adobe’s commercially safe Firefly models and more.”
“It accelerates content creation, whether you’re producing for social, working on short films, music videos, client work or personal projects. Creators can film and edit day-in-the-life vlogs, streamers can clip and share their best live moments, and podcasters can clean up dialogue and add studio-quality sound effects to publish episode highlights to social anytime, anywhere,” the company further adds.

Pushing the app primarily for social media videos, Adobe says, “Edit at the speed of inspiration with fast, responsive performance built natively for iOS, simple media management, and a distraction-free, watermark-free experience. Designed for the way you work, start projects on your phone and export with one tap to TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram and more with automatic resizing to keep your content perfectly framed, or send projects to Premiere Pro for precision editing on your desktop.”
The app also integrates Adobe’s Firefly AI models, enabling users to generate stickers, images, and even create transitions. A unique Generative Sound Effects feature allows you to add background audio from a text prompt or even by humming a tune.
Other AI-powered tools include Enhance Speech, which removes background noise for clearer dialogue, and an AI Image Expander, which fills frames intelligently without losing quality. While the app itself is free, these AI tools rely on generative credits that can be purchased within the app.
Adobe explains, “Turn your voice into a mobile recording studio with AI-powered tools like Generative Sound Effects, now generally available in Premiere mobile and Adobe Firefly, along with Enhance speech, making it easy to create crisp, clear audio from anywhere you are.”

One of the biggest advantages of Premiere for iPhone is its connection to Adobe Cloud. Users can begin editing a project on their iPhone and later continue the same project on Premiere Pro for desktop.
However, for now, the sync only works from mobile to desktop, not the other way around.
In addition, Adobe has integrated its stock library of free photos, videos, and sound effects directly into the app, giving creators easy access to resources without relying on third-party tools.
With this launch, Adobe is positioning Premiere for iPhone as a direct competitor to popular mobile editing apps like CapCut, InVideo, and Meta’s Edits. It basically offers creators a more professional, cloud-connected editing solution on the go.
