Apple is gearing up to make a fresh entry in the smart display category next year. The Cupertino giant might just go ahead and release not one but two smart display devices in 2025. As per reports, these will be powered by a new operating system called “HomeOS.” In his recent Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s famous Apple reported Mark Gurman made these exciting revelations.

Currently, Amazon Echo and Google Nest are popular in the smart display segment. With Apple entering the competition potentially as soon as next year, it is going to be interesting to see what design and innovation all these big brands bring to provide value to the consumer.

According to Gurman’s reports, Apple is developing two smart displays. The aim is to bring Apple Intelligence to homes.

The first product that Apple is working on is code-named J595. It is expected to be a high-end device featuring a large screen and a robotic arm. This will move or rotate to follow the user’s voice or keep them in the camera frame.

The second display in working is code-named J490. It is supposedly the more affordable option designed primarily for FaceTime calls and smart home control. It will focus on everyday tasks such as managing apps such as Calendar, Notes, and Home.

Then comes the new operating system that Gurman hinted about. Apple is reportedly powering smart displays with a new operating system built on the foundation of tvOS. It is being referred to as HomeOS.

It is expected to be different from anything we have seen in current Apple devices. These smart displays will have hardware capable of onboard AI processing. This will eventually allow devices to run Apple’s AI features locally.

However, it is important to note that not much about price or features has been revealed officially or even unofficially yet. All we know as of now is from Gurman’s reports.

The first of which is expected to arrive as soon as 2025, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

The report hints that the more high-end display is expected to cost over $1,000. Meanwhile, the other one could be a more budget-friendly option.

Apple smart displays are anticipated to launch as early as 2025.

It will be Apple’s entry into yet another competitive market and it looks like Apple is planning to keep Apple Intelligence at the forefront here as well.
