Asus has quietly unveiled the ROG Phone 9 FE, a more affordable version of its flagship ROG Phone 9. Now listed on Asus Thailand’s website, this variant keeps the core gaming features intact while making a few strategic tweaks to offer a premium experience at a lower price. Here’s what we know about the phone.
The ROG Phone 9 FE sports a 6.78-inch FHD+ Samsung AMOLED LTPO display with HDR10+ support and a peak brightness of 2,500 nits. The refresh rate adjusts dynamically between 1Hz and 120Hz, but users can boost it to 165Hz in system settings or up to 185Hz via Game Genie.
Under the hood, the phone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset paired with 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 4.0 storage. Powering the device is a 5,500mAh battery, which supports 65W wired Quick Charge 5.0 and Qi 1.3 wireless charging.
The phone ships with Android 15 with ROG UI and features a triple-camera setup on the back:
For selfies, there’s a 32MP RGBW front camera.
Gaming-centric features include AirTrigger pressure-sensitive shoulder controls and an AniMe Mini-LED matrix (85 dots) on the back, allowing for customisable lighting effects. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC. On the durability front, the phone comes with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection and has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. It measures 163.8 x 76.8 x 8.9 mm and weighs 225 grams.
The ROG Phone 9 FE is available in Phantom Black and is priced at THB 29,990 (approx $890 or INR 77,542). While it lacks the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a larger 5,800mAh battery and 512GB storage found in the standard ROG Phone 9, it remains a solid choice for mobile gamers who want top-tier performance at a lower price.
