Elon Musk’s taking over platform X (formerly Twitter) was one of the most headline-worthy events in the last two years for the tech community.

Musk has maintained that he has a unique vision for the platform and he intends to see it through. Since taking over, Musk has introduced several changes to the platform.

While some have been accepted, most changes had to sail through initial outrage. Now, recent development is financial and streaming services to become part of the platform.

Yes, you read that right! X is expanding into financial and streaming services in 2025 as revealed by CEO Linda Yaccarino. The goal is to transform X into an “everything app,” akin to China’s WeChat.

Yaccarino shared the news on X and she wrote, “In 2024, X changed the world. Now, YOU are the media! 2025 X will connect you in ways never thought possible. X TV, X Money, Grok, and more. Buckle up. Happy New Year! 🥂”

The announcement highlights plans for X TV (a streaming platform), X Money (financial services), and updates to Grok, the platform’s AI chatbot. These features align with X’s vision, which started in 2023 with the rebranding, introduction of X Premium and other changes.

According to the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System website, the payment subsidiary of X has money transmission licenses in 14 states.

Elon Musk during an internal meeting in 2023 described the shift as a move from “Twitter 1.0 to the everything app” while Yaccarino emphasised that X aims to deliver “everything” through its innovation and partnerships.

Yaccarino previously said on X, “For years, fans and critics alike have pushed Twitter to dream bigger, to innovate faster, and to fulfil our great potential. X will do that and more. We’ve already started to see X take shape over the past 8 months through our rapid feature launches, but we’re just getting started.”

She further explained “There’s absolutely no limit to this transformation. X will be the platform that can deliver, well….everything. @elonmusk and I are looking forward to working with our teams and every single one of our partners to bring X to the world.”

YouTuber MKBHD Sells Off Tesla Cybertruck Sparking Controversy

In separate news, the Tesla Cybertruck has been making headlines for some not-so-likable reasons. Apart from the explosion outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas, recently the vehicle was also under the radar when renowned YouTuber Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) revealed selling his cyber truck.

MKBHS reviewed the Cybertruck previously calling it “Already Iconic.” However, his recent decision to sell his Cybertruck has stirred controversy.

Brownlee revealed in an Instagram story that he has sold the Cybertruck.

When questioned on X, he clarified saying that he likes “the Rivian better”. In response to another user, the YouTuber said, “We all know FSD (Full Self-Driving) is better than Rivian’s, but it’s not the #1 buying factor for regular people.”

Tesla’s no-resale clause for the Cybertruck added fuel to the fire, as the company has previously banned resellers from making additional purchases. The situation escalated further when Elon Musk and Brownlee unfollowed each other on X shortly after the story surfaced.

Fans speculated whether Musk’s was hurt by the resale or if Brownlee regretted his decision. The entire episode has left the tech community divided on social media with some siding with Brownlee’s preference and others criticising the resale amid Tesla’s strict policies.
