Looks like days of disappointment for GTA fans just got an extension. After years of buzz and waiting, Rockstar Games finally gave fans a first look at Grand Theft Auto VI with an official trailer last year. While there was no release date back then, we recently reported that many were hoping for more details to drop this month during the May 15 earnings call. Unfortunately, Rockstar has now confirmed that GTA 6 is getting delayed.

But there’s still some good news in the mix.

GTA 6 Is Now Coming in 2026

Rockstar Games shared officially on X (formerly Twitter) that Grand Theft Auto VI is now scheduled to release on May 26, 2026. It’s later than fans were expecting, but this is the first time Rockstar has given an actual launch date for the game.

In their statement, the studio acknowledged the disappointment, saying, “We are very sorry that this is later than you expected.” They also thanked fans for the massive support, calling it “truly humbling.”

The post added, “With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations.”

True to their reputation, Rockstar is putting quality first. They’re taking extra time to make sure the game lives up to the sky-high expectations fans have.

While the delay might be a letdown, especially since earlier reports pointed to a November 2025 launch, the upside is that we finally have a confirmed release date. No more guessing. Just a bit over a year to go until GTA 6 hits shelves.
