When it comes to smartwatch designs, tech companies often take inspiration from the market leaders.
However, Huawei’s upcoming Watch Fit 3 seems to have taken a bit too much inspiration from Apple’s iconic smartwatch.
The leaked images of the Huawei Watch Fit 3 reveal an uncanny resemblance to the Apple Watch.
From the square-ish shape to the thin bezels and rounded corners, the design cues are strikingly similar.
Even the positioning of the two buttons on the side, including a rotating crown and a physical button, mimics Apple’s design.
But it doesn’t stop there.
The Watch Fit 3 also appears to have adopted Apple’s unique band attachment system, which connects without traditional lugs.
It’s almost as if Huawei has taken a page straight out of Apple’s design playbook.
Now, it’s worth noting that smartwatch designs can only vary so much, given the limited real estate on our wrists.
However, the degree of similarity between the Huawei Watch Fit 3 and the Apple Watch is hard to ignore.
Of course, looks can be deceiving, and the real test will be in the software capabilities of the Watch Fit 3.
Huawei’s “Watch Fit” line has traditionally focused more on fitness tracking than full-fledged smartwatch features.
It runs a lightweight version of HarmonyOS, with support for basic apps, fitness and sleep tracking, and delivering notifications and calls from your phone.
While the Huawei Watch Fit 3 may offer impressive battery life, rumoured to last up to 10 days on a single charge, it’s unlikely to match the comprehensive software experience of the Apple Watch or even modern Wear OS watches.
The Huawei Watch Fit 3 and the Apple Watch share several design elements, including a square-ish body, thin bezels, rounded corners, and the positioning of the side buttons, which include a rotating crown.
The Huawei Watch Fit 3 adopts a unique band attachment system very similar to that of the Apple Watch, which allows for seamless band interchangeability without the use of traditional watch lugs.
Huawei’s Watch Fit 3 runs on a lightweight version of HarmonyOS, designed primarily for fitness tracking, delivering notifications, and handling calls, with a simpler interface compared to more advanced smartwatches like the Apple Watch.
While the Huawei Watch Fit 3 is efficient in fitness tracking and basic smartwatch tasks, it may not offer the same breadth of software capabilities and app support found in the Apple Watch or leading Wear OS devices.
